Salem State HESA at 2024 NASPA Conference

NASPA is a student affairs professional organization comprising over 15,000 professionals and 1,200 institutions. Several of our students and faculty attended this year’s conference. Below are select highlights from our wonderful Salem State students and faculty!

Presentations

Joseph Cautela III presented an education session with Drs. Vijay Kanagala and Seth Fishman entitled “Chat GPT and Student Affairs Graduate Preparation Programs: A Conversation” designed to spark conversation about the use of ChatGPT in grad admissions, program curriculum, and career development in HESA/SAHE programs. Participants included current grad students, SAPros from graduate admissions, graduate student services, writing centers, and Business and Liberal Arts colleges.

Adeola Osabiya and Rachell Krell presented at NASPA’s undergraduate student conference on the value of having graduate assistantships, connecting with students from other HESA programs across the country and provided advice to undergraduate students about the process of applying to graduate programs.

Awards and Recogitions

Rachell Krell was award the Jim Rhatigan Fellowship through NASPA, providing her with registration to the annual conference, registration to a pre-conference, and recognition during the annual conference.

Additionally, Adeola Osabiya received a Graduate Student Presentation Travel Award through Salem State’s School of Graduate Studies to help cover travel expenses to and from the conference.
